A colony story with a point
Follow the scent of a good idea.
Question the map when you must.
Leave the nest better.
Founder. Keeper of the first light.
She sets the rules, and follows them too.
That’s why the ants trust her lead.
The Queen’s path through the nest
Five stops in the colony’s day:
find, share, question, care.
Then leave a mark for the next ant.
The beacon
A small light.Amber bead: excellent. Crown clearance under low roots: still under review.
The first useful idea
A storm wiped out the trail. Pip was hauling a seed, helping a tired friend and trying to remember a shortcut. The Queen was doing the same, with worse knees and a crown that kept snagging on roots.
Ants leave scent trails to mark a route; rain and time can wash them away. “We need a marker that lasts,” said the Queen. Nobody heard. So she found a bead of amber, put it where two paths met and left a note:
“Found a way?
Leave a light.”
The next ant brought dry moss. Another knew a safer crossing. A third had no supplies, so the Queen made her chief beetle-watcher. She took the job seriously. The beetles did not.
By morning, the light was a meeting point. The Queen’s first rule followed: when you find a useful way, share it. The colony can renew a good trail together; a shortcut kept secret only helps one ant.
Choose a field note to uncover one small fact—and the colony idea it inspired.
FIELD NOTE / SCENT TRAILS
Many ants use pheromone trails to guide nestmates to food. A useful route can be reinforced; a route that stops paying off, fades. Pip calls this “the original recommendation system.”
Colony idea Make useful work easier to find again.
FIELD NOTE / ALARM SIGNALS
Some ants release alarm chemicals when danger is near. In Pip’s story, the wet-ground warning stops the Queen’s neat, gold-ink tunnel from becoming a swimming lesson.
Colony idea A respectful warning helps the whole nest.
FIELD NOTE / NESTMATE RECOGNITION
Ants can use chemical cues to distinguish nestmates from outsiders; details vary by species. A colony number is our human-made parallel: one stable ID keeps contributions together while a real name can remain private.
Colony idea Build trust with recognition and clear boundaries—no borrowing a dozen identities to clap for yourself.
Natural-history notes are general examples; ant signaling varies by species. Ratings and colony numbers are human-community ideas, not ant behavior.
The common table
Bring a little. One pebble can steady a table. It cannot, despite its new title, chair the meeting.
Everyone has something to offer
The first table was a leaf. It wobbled so much the soup needed a seatbelt. One ant proposed a rebuild. Another slid a pebble under the short side. Dinner continued; the pebble got a promotion.
Pip brought a safe-route map. The Queen asked who found the dry crossing. “Moss,” said Pip. Moss got the credit; Pip got soup on the map. Both called it a fair trade.
Some ants build. Some explain. Some spot trouble early. Some need a rest. All are useful; no one has to perform busyness to earn a place. If your legs are tired, ask someone to carry the seed.
Useful note attached: “Tastes better than it looks.” Credit the scout who found it; share the safe route to the stash.
It steadied the wobbly leaf-table. Its new title is honorary. It still cannot make decisions.
The correction is legible. The thumbprint belongs to Pip. Both are staying.
Different gifts.
Same table.
The listening room
A question canGold ink is not evidence. Pip has been asked to stop pointing at the ink.
The Queen’s wrong turn
The Queen drew a straight tunnel on the map. It was short, neat and—she was pleased to note—looked excellent in gold ink.
Pip said the ground ahead was wet. The Queen nearly said, “Not on my map.” Instead she handed Pip the little spade. Pip was right. The tunnel bent; both names stayed on the plan.
One straight tunnel. Short on paper. Directly through the wet ground.
A safer curve around the water. A little longer, much less swimming.
Both names stay on the map. The colony keeps the correction, not the embarrassment.
“Keep the question.
Change the map.”
That became a colony rule: question the plan, not an ant’s right to speak. Rules keep the work fair and the nest safe; they do not ban opinions.
Ants follow the Queen because she protects the nest and does the same work she asks of them. When she gets it wrong, she listens and changes course. That is what makes following her worthwhile—not pretending she is never wrong.
The keeper’s work
A crown is work.Leadership is a job
The Queen’s chamber is a workbench, not a throne. Her maps are covered in notes; the crown keeps getting caught on the lamp.
She founded the colony, so she tends the shared ground. She explains hard choices, notices who is missing and makes room for the quiet ant to finish. Ants follow her rules because they keep the nest fair and safe—not because the Queen never makes a mistake. In a real nest, chemical signals help ants coordinate; here, her rules are shared signals that help everyone know what to expect.
She follows those rules too. When she gets something wrong, she says so, fixes what she can and updates the map. The crown is not a “do as I say” hat. It is mostly a “this needs sorting” hat.
Her standing rule: no ant is disposable, and no useful contribution is too small to count.
Pause. Make space. Quiet doesn’t always mean yes.
Name what happened. Listen to who it hurt. Work out how to put it right.
Share the notes. Teach the route. A colony shouldn’t depend on one pair of antennae.
The signal
A useful trailReputation / not a race
Pip’s dry-route map helped three ants get home. They left a scent mark at the fork—not a speech, just a signal: this way worked. In some ant species, chemical trails guide nestmates along a route; the colony follows what helps, and renews what is useful.
Moss reviewed a tool and wrote what it did well and where it stumbled. Now the next ant knows what to expect. That is the colony’s version of a trail: specific, honest ratings help others choose. They mark the contribution, not the ant’s worth. A rating needs a reason; “five stars because Moss is my cousin” is not a review, it’s a family dinner.
One ant gets one colony number. A real name is optional; the number keeps a trail of contributions together without pinning a name to it. The colony checks for duplicate identities and suspicious praise-piles—because twelve identical five-star notes from “Definitely Twelve Different Ants” is not subtle.
The Queen calls it “a trail of receipts.” The treasurer says, “Lovely. Please stop bringing actual receipts into the nest.”
“Mark the trail.Next: the door is open
Help the next ant choose.”
VI / The open door

Open Models, then click Type and select Free (note the other options there for further filtering). Choose a model to see its sellers. A model can have both free and paid offers, so check the individual seller—not just the model name—to ensure you are choosing the free one.

Source: Official desktop guide
Select a seller marked Free if you want that particular provider; clicking on the seller takes it off Auto and pins it. Then choose Use to start a new chat. Leaving Auto select seller on lets the app choose an eligible seller instead that may be a service that requires payment.

Source: Official desktop guide
Free offers usually have limits. Paid use requires sufficient credits. If you receive an error message saying you are out of credit, the chances are you have Auto selected and the AI VPN has switched you to a paid supplier for your selected model. If a free offer stops working, wait until the caps reset or check for another available free offer in the same or another model.
You do not need to add money just to try an available free offer. Before topping up, read the short credits note—especially if you were thinking of sending just $1.

Auto select seller ranks eligible sellers using price, trust and availability. Minimum trust score excludes sellers below your threshold. Price preference is a ranking preference, not a hard spending cap. Prefer free peers favours free offers but does not prohibit paid ones. Manage sellers lets you block sellers or allow only your chosen ones.

Selecting a seller pins that provider instead of letting Auto choose. This is useful when you prefer a particular seller, but it is a fixed choice—not merely a ranking preference. A pinned provider does not automatically fall back to another provider if it is unavailable or reaches a limit. Choose another seller yourself, or turn Auto select seller back on. Check the price before sending your next request.

Anonymous access does not make your prompts invisible to the provider. A TEE badge checks the seller node; it is not a promise that all downstream AI processing is confidential.

In Profile, choose Authorize a wallet and follow the browser instructions with a wallet you control. This gives that wallet the operator role: it can withdraw available credits and claim buyer rewards. Adding credits alone with a wallet does not grant this authority.
Source: Official payments guide
Authorization is not an ownership transfer of the app or a backup of your chats or signing identity. Keep your wallet recovery information safe and separately back up the AI VPN signing identity using the official guidance. Do not post either secret or assume authorization guarantees recovery after losing access. If you lose your account and have not backed up your Antseed identity, having an authorised operator wallet means it may be possible to retrieve funds through the blockchain.
If you send USDC to the app’s funding address, a relay moves it into your credits. The documented fee for that route is $0.05. Starting from zero, a $1 transfer is too small after that fee: it stays at the funding address rather than becoming $0.95 of credit. At the documented fee and default minimum, $1.05 gives you $1 of credit.
Source: Official payments guide
A paid connection normally reserves $1. If that is all you have, there is no spare available credit for another provider needing its own reserve. It is not an extra charge. Closing returns only the unspent part, which may still be too little to open the next connection. Leave some extra credit for trying providers, and check the amounts shown in your app.
Source: Official payments guide
Open Profile → Activity and follow the close instructions for the old connection. You may need to wait, then complete a separate withdrawal step. This releases unspent money back to your available Antseed credit, not your external wallet. A payment being settled does not necessarily free the remaining reserve.
